Kurzweil predicts that computers will be able to have a deep understanding of human emotion by 2029. He wants to see search evolve to understand even more complex language that will involve “emotional intelligence, being funny, getting the joke, being sexy, being loving, understanding human emotion.”
The real question is if we will be able to understand what makes one brain creative, curious, and compassionate–not just be able to read some brain activity which is associated with these brain properties. We are already close to reading emotional states, and even begin to alter them, but with no understanding of how they are created.
